"New Year, New Stories": Winter 2026 Kids' Writing Workshop -- THURSDAYS
In this 6-week (in-person) WINTER 2026 Kids’ Writing Workshop—aptly named “NEW YEAR, NEW STORIES”—we will explore a DIFFERENT AUTHOR/BOOK EACH WEEK as we delve into expressing our own creativity. The authors/books we study will be our ‘mentors’, modeling what we can do to improve our own writing. Not only will we explore what makes writing great, but we will also do it in a way that young writers will walk away thinking, “That was so much fun! When can I come back and write more?” (Hard to believe, but it’s true!) There’s no better way to learn than to have FUN while doing it! That is the aim and purpose of a Fearless Dragon Writers’ Workshop! A place where writing is FUN for everyone! (Reluctant writers included!)
Each week, we come together to inspire writing through themed writing lessons that start with reading from a mentor text (a popular children’s book). Then we move on to our Fearless Dragon Writers’ Original Writing Worksheets, where children find playful prompts to support that day’s Writing Concept. The Writing Concepts are thoughtfully selected and help children learn how to improve their writing. These Lessons and Worksheets inspire children to WRITE THEIR OWN CREATIVE STORIES! Lastly, we SHARE our STORIES in a SUPPORTIVE SETTING and PLAY WRITING GAMES—all while learning and laughing together. This Winter, we will explore various writing concepts, including: writing storytelling tips, goal-setting for writing, a vital grammar tip, and much, much more!
This SECTION MEETS ON THURSDAYS from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. —IN-PERSON (in Fanwood, New Jersey, Home Studio) from Jan. 29 – March 5, 2026. All writers (ages 8 – 12) are welcome—Reluctant Writers Included!
