In a Fearless Dragon Writers’ Workshop, the adventure is only as limited as our imaginations. In this 6-week (in-person) Spring 2026 Kids’ Writing Workshop, we will unlock our creativity as we travel through ‘Portals of Imagination’ to inspire our writing! Each week, a different children’s author will be featured and a different literary ‘portal’ explored. Will we adventure with Alice down the rabbit hole? Travel through time to discover hidden treasures? Kick up our boots in the Wild West? Let music carry us on a melodious journey? The sky’s the limit as we dive into creative and inspiring writing lessons featuring unique ‘portal’ destinations!
After listening to a short excerpt of a longer work, or a picture book, the Fearless Dragons will write their own stories based on the theme or the featured author’s style. Each session includes original Writing Worksheets designed to support the lesson and inspire writing. Each session ends with “Snack n’ Share” as the children share their stories in a supportive environment while munching on allergy-friendly snacks. The playfully-themed sessions inspire writers, including reluctant writers—and show that writing, once fear is removed, can actually be—fun!
This SECTION MEETS ON THURSDAYS from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. —IN-PERSON (in Fanwood, New Jersey, Home Studio) from April 30 – June 18, 2026*. (*We skip May 14th and June 11th.)
All writers (ages 8 – 12) are welcome—Reluctant Writers Included!
NOTE: Make-up sessions are offered as needed.
Registration is first-come, first-served. Space is limited, as is class size. We meet in Fanwood, New Jersey. The location of my Home Studio will be provided after registration is received.
